Monday 5/14/2012 Do you suffer from Iron power blood? Then take Geritaul each day. This came to mind when I read the scripture for today. Some may remember when this was an ad for Geritaul. I don't know if I have the wording exactly like they had it, but they proposed that you were low in iron when you were down and out. They found later on that it was a false advertisement. There were no facts to back up their ad. We all get down and out at times. It is like a roller coaster, one day you up and the next day it seems like you cannot go. You get discouraged and start thinking “poor me, poor my” just like pooh. Friends may tell you to snap out of it but that is easier said than done. In severe cases it may take medication to get you out of that depressed state. But for most of us it may be as simple as getting your eyes off yourself and on to others. Recognize what God has done in your life rather than what he has not done. It goes back to “count your blessing and name them one by one”. So I give you two recommendations for your depression. 1-do a random act of kindness for someone else. 2-Praise God for what he has blessed you with. Repeat as needed throughout the day. The cost of this advice to you-Free. It has been paid for by the blood of your Savior. Have a great day with your Great Physician God Bless Mike Note: It was a great Mother's Day. Thanks to everyone that helped your Mom feel special. And Thanks to everyone at Neapolis that made the day special here. |

Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." Have you ever asked or been asked a question that was a trick question? One that was trying to catch you in a bad situation. We did it with our kids. You walk into a room and your child is there with a broken lamp by their feet. You know who did it but you ask the question anyway. Who did that? Our kids did it and from what I understand only children do it too. They answer “not me”. “Not me” lived in our house for many years but I believe now he has moved in with them. Why did we ask the obvious question? Were we trying to catch them in a lie which is normally the way it would go? Are you lying to me? Of course they would answer “no” and the situation escalates. Are we trying to get them to admit that they did something wrong and teach them about repentance? That may be the case but why did Christ get asked the question from a lawyer that lead to his answer. Verse 36 says that the lawyer was trying to trick him as he asked “what is the great commandment”? Jesus answer seems obvious “to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind”. I don't know if the lawyers next question was going to be “how do you do that”, but Christ went ahead and answered it anyway. He said “the second is like the first to love your neighbor as yourself”. How do we love God with everything? By choosing to love our neighbors as ourselves according to God's commandment. We are not sure what trick the lawyer had up his sleeve, but if someone asked you “do you love your neighbor”? Your answer better not be “not me”. If it is then repent and asked God to show you how. Have a great day with your Heavenly Teacher. God Bless Mike Note: Mother's day is approaching May 13th. Join us for one United Worship service at 9:30 followed by a Mother's Day Brunch. Wednesday 5/16/2012 This is a good saying. For those that don't know, in order to sharpen a blade such as a lawnmower blade, you take a file that is made of iron and stroke it against the lawnmower blade also made of iron. In doing this you sharpen the lawnmower blade. But there is a catch. You need to stroke the blade correctly in order for sharpening to take place. If you don't do it right it will just get duller and duller. The right way of sharping is going against the sharp edge of the blade. This seems backward to what you would think plus it appears to be much harder to do. As true friends to someone, sometimes we may need to go against their sharp edge to help them get sharper. When we see a friend going the wrong direction or doing things against God's will we may need to confront them with it, going against that sharp edge. We take a gamble because we may get cut in the process but it is for their own good. The temptation is to go along with them but this may just keep enabling them to continue in the destructive life. But going against this sharp edge there is a right way and a wrong way. In sharping a blade you need to use the right angle and use long steady strokes. In helping a friend we need to sharpen them much the same way. We need to use the right angle (tact) with compassion, understanding, and love. If done properly it will help both of you. I know personally that if a friend came to me and in love let me know where I needed to change and improve I would appreciate it. If you decide you need to do this make sure your own file is in good shape and check with the Master Sharpener first. It just maybe you that needs sharpened first. Have a good day with the Master. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. Mothers are like security blankets. Sometimes just having them near gives us peace and comfort. In thinking about Mother's Day and reading this scripture that is what comes to mind. Where do you turn when things are down and out and you don't know where else to go? You go to Mom. Even if you do not tell her all your woes just being near her sometimes you are comforted. It is like a security blanket that you just need to know that it is there. This is one lesson I learned after my own mother was called home. I had lost that security blanket. If things were just getting too hard and the world seemed too difficult I could go and spend time with her. That time just made life a little easier as I knew that she would give me that grace and mercy without question. Mom demonstrates to us how we can come to our Heavenly Father with boldness knowing that we will receive grace and mercy. Just another quality of God that our mothers reflect. Thank God for moms. Have a great day with the Living God. God Bless Mike |

And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself. What does Storage Wars and this scripture have in common? They both draw people to them. Well in Storage Wars not everyone is drawn to it but it does illustrate this scripture. In Storage Wars a select group of people will bid on forfeited storage units. They get a chance to look inside but cannot inter until they buy it. Then each of them have the opportunity to buy it but only the top bidder gets it. Then and only then do they get to step inside and find the prize that they were bidding on. Some of the people are drawn to the unit out of curiosity. Some because they do not want someone else to get it. Others because think if that one is bidding than there must be some value in it. Others take a close look and see the value in the unit and they want it for themselves. They are willing to pay the price. But they have all been drawn there out of different reasons. Jesus says that everyone will be drawn to Him when he is lifted up. Who does not recognize the cross? Everyone knows what the cross represents and are drawn to it. But some will reject it because they do not see the value, some will only briefly look into it, and some see the real value and will do whatever it takes to claim it as their own. Those that do whatever it takes will claim Him as their own and will receive the prize that awaits all of us. So the question remains which one are you? Have a great day with the One that claims you as His. God Bless Mike |
